A Sense of Arrival at Oxwich

Sea and dunes, woodland, the salt marsh and a freshwater marsh make up the varied landscape of Oxwich.

Because of these four distinct areas there is a great diversity of habitats on the reserve and it is also clear that human management has interacted with nature over a long period of time.

A very successful school project was led by David Lloyd and Elspeth English which resulted in a series of striking carved pieces representing some of the things that flourish in the varied habitats on the reserve.

One of the sculptures, an outsized version of a 'Bee Orchid' that grows on the dunes, is to be sited at nearby Knelston Primary School.
